POINT OF VIEW

Supporting growth fields from social issues

  • NETWORK

How Companies Can Adapt in an Era of Declining Domestic Consumption
Planning for a Sustainable Future Together

Japan’s population is steadily declining, with projections suggesting it may fall below 100 million by 2050. This demographic shift indicates the potential loss of nearly 30 million consumers over the next 20 to 30 years. In light of this challenge, how can businesses achieve sustainable growth in such a landscape?
At Cocoon Labo, we leverage our extensive network of experts and proven track record with government agencies to address these pressing issues. We focus on innovative solutions, such as creating new markets aligned with national policies and promoting growth strategies that prioritize sustainability without depleting the planet's resources.
Together, we can build pathways to sustainable growth that align with the evolving needs of society and the environment.

  • APPROACH

Encouraging Behavior Change Among "Complex and Multi-Layered Consumers"
    Strategic Approach

Through our government projects, we have adopted a gradual, step-by-step approach to raising awareness of consumer behavior guidelines and societal ideals. Rather than promoting a simple "zero-or-nothing" mindset, we focus on facilitating thoughtful and actionable changes.
In today's world, consumer behavior is no longer polarized; instead, it exists within a spectrum of values and beliefs. As such, effective planning is required to shift the balance of consumption within the "middle zone" where the majority of consumers reside. The key to this shift lies in clear and thoughtful communication, ensuring that messages resonate with diverse consumer segments and inspire lasting change.

  • COMMUNICATION PLANNING

Process Communication for Creating a New Era of "Co-Creation and Shared Relationships with Consumers”

The relationship between businesses and consumers must evolve from traditional one-sided communication focused on "purchasing" to a more collaborative model where consumers act as supporters who help grow the product. This shift moves from ownership to sharing, creating a more engaged and participatory dynamic.
To facilitate this transition, it is essential to adopt a "process communication" approach that transparently shares the realities of product development. By disclosing product concepts, value chains, and development stages, businesses can foster a deeper connection with consumers. We focus on planning communication before a product launch to build a strong, lasting relationship with the product, where consumers feel involved and invested in its creation.

  • SOCIAL PLANNING

Offense and Defense in a “Society of 100 Million Senders” – A Public Relations Asset

In the fast-paced, information-driven society shaped by the rise of social media, we now live in an era where information, once shared, becomes an asset with lasting influence. This information continues to impact in the long term, making it crucial to understand how to harness its positive effects while managing potential risks effectively.
To navigate this dynamic landscape, it is essential to employ a strategic approach that balances both offensive and defensive public relations tactics. By using a portfolio-style communication strategy, we can ensure that messaging maintains its positive momentum while safeguarding against negative repercussions. We provide tailored planning for addressing future challenges, ensuring that your public relations efforts are both proactive and resilient.

Showcasing National Park Delicacies Through an Exclusive Marché

As part of the Ministry of the Environment's "Traveling with Tastes: National Parks of Japan" exhibition, we curated bento boxes featuring specialty ingredients sourced from 35 national parks across the country.
Complementing the exhibition, we organized side events, including a vibrant marché showcasing and selling agricultural products unique to the national park regions. These initiatives celebrated the rich culinary heritage of Japan's natural landscapes while supporting local communities.

Local Government

Annual Support for Building Momentum Toward a Zero Carbon City

We collaborated with Minamiashigara City to support its Zero Carbon City Declaration by fostering public engagement and awareness through a series of events and initiatives. The highlight was the "Minamiashigara City Carbon Neutral Kickoff Forum - Protecting Forests and Water, Realizing a Carbon-Free Society," where citizens and businesses came together to deepen their understanding of climate change and global warming countermeasures. The aim was to inspire collective action and sustainable practices.

Throughout the year, various events and activities were organized, including:

  • Ceremony direction, content creation, and operational support.
  • Assignment of expert moderators, such as representatives from Climate Youth Japan.
  • Integration of Minamiashigara City's cultural and environmental themes into the event content.
  • Interactive educational events featuring participatory content to actively involve citizens.

This comprehensive approach helped drive awareness and action toward achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral future.
